An Empirical Study of Diametral Variations in Turning
نویسندگان
چکیده
Predictions of diametral errors in turning often assume that these errors are solely due to bending of the workpiece and tool. However, recent studies indicate that this cannot explain observed diametral errors in short workpieces. This paper presents an empirical study of the effect of cutting parameters and workpiece materia l on diametral errors. Steel and aluminum samples were machined at different speed, feed, and depth of cut combinations, and the diametral errors were measured. The predictive model obtained for aluminum was significantly different from the model for steel, but both models gave acceptable predictions.

Determination of Diametral Error Using Finite Elements and Experimental Method
Many manufacturing defects could be seen in cylindrical turning. Some of these defects are: elastic deformation of work-piece, nonlinear backlash of cutting set – machine – workpiece, unknown geometry of untreated part, thermal deformations, vibration of set and machine. Deflection of workpiece under cutting forces will cause different levels of processing of workpiece 1 . Nonlinear backlash of...

متن کاملThe Effect of Temperature on Compressive and Tensile Strengths of Commonly Used Luting Cements: An In Vitro Study
BACKGROUND The luting cements must withstand masticatory and parafunctional stresses in the warm and wet oral environment. Mouth temperature and the temperature of the ingested foods may induce thermal variation and plastic deformation within the cements and might affect the strength properties. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of temperature on the compressive and diame...
متن کاملTurning Quantitative: An Analytic Scale to Do Critical Discourse Analysis
Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) could be seen as a theory in qualitative more than in qualitative stud- ies. This might have led to difficulty in doing CDA. Accordingly, this study attempted to develop a quan- titative profile in the form of an analytic rubric. For this purpose, Fairclough’s model of CDA was select- ed as the research framework. The techniques used for structuring analy...
متن کاملAn Investigation of Brightness Changes in Ultrasound Images due to Temperature Variations in Liver Tissue during Radiofrequency Ablation
Introduction: one of the minimally invasive methods of treatmenting liver malignancies is Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) which can be applied to primary or secondary tumors. Nevertheless, the disease recurrence is probable after RFA application partially due to the inadequate capability of temperature monitoring of the target tissue and visualizing the thermal damage. The goal of this work was t...
